Many historians, politicians, and economists had different views and opinions on the treaty of Versailles. It was said too be far to extreme and harsh, and that unnecessary points were given. Fosch argued the treaty was no more than a Twenty Year Truce. We now know it was unsuccessful and Fosch was not far from right, but was it really as harsh and unfair as it seemed to the German public? Or can a valid defense be made, and therefore the points of the treaty justified? Was Fosch right to believe this about the well known and discussed treaty?
